Not too bad but uncomfortable to touch for more than a few seconds&#8230;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I ordered a bunch of 60mm X 60mm X 10mm heatsinks off ebay and got a bag of 4in clamps from Lowes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/es.pratt.edu\/Commons\/Images\/cnc\/cnc-heat-sinks\/IMG_0322.JPG\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I just had to mill clearance for the motor wires and for the spindle fan. I started with the spindle since that&#8217;s the hardest to do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I just cutoff the center fins. I was tempted to mount it vertically and mill a curve that matched the fan diameter but that&#8217;s too much effort for me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/es.pratt.edu\/Commons\/Images\/cnc\/cnc-heat-sinks\/IMG_0316.JPG\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/es.pratt.edu\/Commons\/Images\/cnc\/cnc-heat-sinks\/IMG_0318.JPG\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A quick test fit with the spindle all the way up and it looks good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/es.pratt.edu\/Commons\/Images\/cnc\/cnc-heat-sinks\/IMG_0319.JPG\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The wire slots were easy. Then a shot of paint and they&#8217;re done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/es.pratt.edu\/Commons\/Images\/cnc\/cnc-heat-sinks\/IMG_0320.JPG\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I clamped it up temporarily while a bent the hose clamps into a matching square shape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/es.pratt.edu\/Commons\/Images\/cnc\/cnc-heat-sinks\/IMG_0323.JPG\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/es.pratt.edu\/Commons\/Images\/cnc\/cnc-heat-sinks\/IMG_0324.JPG\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The end result is pretty good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/es.pratt.edu\/Commons\/Images\/cnc\/cnc-heat-sinks\/IMG_0325.JPG\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I used a dab of heatsink grease on each one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/es.pratt.edu\/Commons\/Images\/cnc\/cnc-heat-sinks\/IMG_0327.JPG\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes, I used a saw blade for a squeegee&#8230;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/es.pratt.edu\/Commons\/Images\/cnc\/cnc-heat-sinks\/IMG_0328.JPG\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I removed one to be sure I had good contact with the motor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/es.pratt.edu\/Commons\/Images\/cnc\/cnc-heat-sinks\/IMG_0329.JPG\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Two down and one to go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/es.pratt.edu\/Commons\/Images\/cnc\/cnc-heat-sinks\/IMG_0331.JPG\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>And the last one&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/es.pratt.edu\/Commons\/Images\/cnc\/cnc-heat-sinks\/IMG_0332.JPG\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I noticed the motors on the CNC were getting a bit warm after a few hours.
